Russian food is simple and hearty. There are no strict rules, but there are regional differences. Traditional breakfast is каша (porridge), often cooked with milk. Many people prefer pastry with a cup of tea of coffee, or sandwiches – бутерброды. For lunch people often eat soup (there are lots of different types), or some chicken, meat, fish with a side. Dinner can by anything (salad, dumplings, pie, etc.)

I’d like to add about the drink: people drink a lot of tea (black or green). Coffee is also popular. Traditional drink is компот (boiled dried fruit with sugar). Russians also drink dairy drinks like кефир, ряженка, молоко.
