о vs об vs обо?

I thought 'о' was used before consonants and 'об' before vowels, but I've just come across the sentence "ты думаешь обо мне" with 'обо' where I'd be expecting 'о'. When is 'обо' used? Thanks.

о is used before consonants and vowels е, ё, ю, я
об is used before other vowels
обо is a special case and it's just used in front of a couple of words like мне and всём

о/об are often mixed by Russians themselves so it is not a big error if a foreigner mixes them, they will understand you.

Обо is only used before several words: все, все, всех, всю, что, что-либо, что-нибудь, что-то
