Всякий – любой?


What is the difference between всякий and любой in Russian?

Also, there is one more synonym – каждый (every, each). As mentioned in another answer, всякий is a little dated. You can find it in idioms and literature for the most part. But всякий may also mean different / various depending on the context.

They are generally similar and interchangeable (but not always)

Любой is a much more common word and simply means “any” or “either one.”
 

Всякий is used less frequently and is a little old-fashioned. It means something like “any type of” or “all kinds of.”
 
I would only use любой and not worry about using всякий.
